Safety & Security

Safety and security are areas we have been exploring to share new and innovative ideas which can improve human safety, reduce risks and protect human lives & health.  With the advent of economical electronics, freely available code and open-source projects, it has become easier than ever to develop new products and technology which may truly save human lives.

In 2015 Eric submitted the Gas Sensor for Emergency Workers to the 2015 Hackaday Prize.  This project was aimed at filling a gap he personally observed in the areas of confined space entry and the possibility to give first responders another tool to protect themselves.

The project was released fully open source with full documentation, video tutorials and instructions so anyone could take the project forward regardless of where they may be in the world.

This project subsequently received fourth place in the 2015 Hackaday Prize which showed us that projects like this were of interest to the world and should be developed and shared.

We have plans to explore several other projects in the upcoming months.  Some ideas can be found in our “Without Borders” area of the Forum where people are free to share any ideas and projects.  Our hope is that we can continue to develop new, innovative and re-producible ideas which can truly make a difference in the world.
