I have had the printer for about a year now. The laser engraver about 6 months and the CNC about 2 years.

The motors are nema23's.
Using wood was a concern for me also and I have since made changes to the CNC.
I will post more updates here soon.
The electronics are just a cheap Chinese brand (Not sure on the name)
There OK and still connect to Mach3 so its all good.
